CBSE schools to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary will be celebrated all over India on 12th January, 2013. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to celebrate Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary events too. In a letter written to all schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, the board has instructed them to participate in this event.
CBSE has requested its affiliated schools to draw a plan of program comprising the following activities– planning a year long calendar which will include different programmes and activities on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, integration of the teachings of the Swami in various school clubs and organizing debates, organizing cultural fiesta like dance, drama, skits, film shows exhibitions on life, works and achievements of Vivekananda.
At different stages of development as part of the celebration, CBSE has decided to involve students’ community of its schools in several physical fitness activities which is related to age specific concerns. They have compiled few reference materials with links of websites. Board has also asked to assess students' projects as part of the event.
